is an honor and a privilege to serve as the 2013 Coastal Georgia Combined
Federal Campaign (CFC) Chairperson. For more than fifty years, the CFC
has been an event we can be proud of. Last year we raised over
$571,000! I know that our generosity was appreciated and made a difference
to those in need.
imagine that if I asked any of you why you chose a career in Federal service,
your answer would not be “to become rich and famous”. Chances are you
joined because you wanted to use your time and talents to make a
difference. You may even have chosen to work in the Coastal
Georgia/Savannah area because there is a real sense of community here. As
federal employees we certainly have a large presence in this community and play
an important role in keeping it safe, healthy and prosperous. Yet we can’t do it alone. Our community is made up of many organizations that just
like us, strive to make a difference and make our community even
stronger. This time of year is our opportunity as federal employees to
support our community and nationwide partners through the CFC.
year our theme is “I Make it Possible”. There are over 20,000 of us
across 17 counties who can make it possible by joining together for a common
cause. These are difficult times for many in our community, and we all
know that federal employees are certainly not exempt from hardship. You may be
surprised to learn what your contributions can do and who will benefit from
your generosity. Be assured that every little bit helps. If we all
contribute where we can, I know we’ll be able to “make it possible”.
Combined Federal Campaign will start soon in your workplace. I hope you
will join me in looking at the list of charitable organizations and make a
commitment to support one or more of the organizations that are closest to your
